Gold has carried meaning for thousands of years - long before it became modern jewellery.
Ancient Egyptians associated gold with the gods, the sun and immortality, using it in jewellery, burial objects, masks and temple decoration. In ancient Greece and Rome, gold became a symbol of wealth, power and social status, while also being struck into coins and used as a form of portable wealth. Across India, China, the Middle East and the Americas, gold was similarly used in ceremonial objects, religious pieces, adornment and trade.
Part of gold’s appeal has always been practical as well as symbolic: it doesn’t rust or tarnish easily, it can be melted and remade repeatedly, and even very old gold can be worked into something new. That made it ideal for objects meant to survive generations.
Over time, gold became closely tied to inheritance, marriage, family wealth and major life events. Rings, chains, coins and other pieces were often passed down rather than thrown away - which is why gold jewellery still has such a strong connection to heirlooms, permanence and legacy today.
In other words: gold has never really been just decoration. It has been currency, status, spirituality, security and memory - sometimes all at once.

We do offer gold plating, however, it does wear off over time and needs replating (especially rings.) The time it takes to wear off depends on how often it's worn, your environment and the. way in which you wear it.
